Dairy Cow

A hardy, active isopod, priced per animal.

$2 per isopod

How many1

No set pack size. A new colony usually does better with several animals than with one.

Habitat

Dairy Cow is Porcellio laevis: big, fast, and happiest with deep leaf litter, cork, a damp third, and a drier two-thirds. They make waste, so ventilation matters more than a sealed humid box.

Diet

They eat leaves, but they also use protein. A small flake or freeze-dried shrimp portion, plus calcium, keeps a growing group from chewing bark and each other. Remove what they do not finish.

Breeding

This is one of the quicker Porcellio lines when the bin is roomy and fed. Babies show up under bark. This shop still does not log an exact brood size.

A good fit

A strong first colony and a common cleanup animal where the enclosure is not desert-dry. Give them space or they will outgrow a cup.
